Tara's cheesy. Girls like a damn fondue. Eugene is... ( A liar? Coward? Loser? Like a brother? A... Kind of weird, sometimes skeevy brother. Smart as hell? ) Weird.
( Which, to be fair, is probably more a reflection of what Rosita held onto moreso than whether or not Ruby actually told her anything more. Last time they really spoke about their own worlds, Rosita's pretty sure she had a gun on hand, and mostly in hand. )
People don't stick guns in other people's faces as often.
( A edge of self-mockery in that, the way Rosita puts edges in everything, makes everything sharp, as if she needs her words to act as a backup weapon in case things go south. ) Does your world involve a lot of musical numbers?
No, not too much of any of those. But... you know how the Porter thing works, dragging us into this world from other ones?
That, um, actually wasn't the first time something like that had happened to me. I lived in Maine for most of my life, but I actually wasn't born there. I was originally from a world that looked a lot more like... something out of Game of Thrones, maybe?
( Several points give her pause, the most important of which is the talk about the Porter and other worlds and having experienced something like that before. On the one hand, maybe it made some kind of sense. On the other hand, it making sense relied on the fact that the Porters existed at all should make sense in some way, and Rosita is still unsettled by all that.
Her hands settle on her hips, like she can somehow make this situation comply a little more to her liking through the power of low-key aggressive body language, and her jaw tenses, though the way she's looking at Ruby is more worried than anything. Worried with a side of furrowed brow.
I've never heard of any... Game of Thrones. ( She frowns a little more. The tragedy of the world ending before worldwide television sensations happened. )
Rosita is good at squinting. And judging. And she is also very good at kicking water at someone to splash them, and somehow making it seem sarcastic. )
That last part is familiar. ( Unfortunately. ) So kind of like every fantasy book, then. Kind of like how this place is weird sci-fi and comic-book bullshit?
( Rosita isn't sure what she expected or wanted to hear, but somehow the response she gets doesn't satisfy all the remaining questions. Probably a by-product of being dissatisfied with just about everything to do with how they would up here, how this world differs and has too much in common with her own.
It's all a mess. Her hands settle on her hips, and she frowns as her gaze drops to the ground. )
( Rosita isn't sure what to make of all the information, in truth. She stays quiet a long while, before looking at Ruby and tilting her head, opting to sit down on the wet sand so that the come and go of the sea inevitably washes over her feet and her legs, anchoring her hands in the weight of the sand at her sides.
Eventually, )
That sounds intense. ( And she shakes her head a little. ) Back home people don't really talk about the past. It's... sort of like picking stitches that aren't ready to come out. Stupid and— painful.
( But she looks at Ruby, then, even if the sunlight makes her squint a little. ) If you do ever wanna talk about it, though.
( Then I'll listen. An offer, albeit a poorly delivered one. )

Cheesy.
( She can't say she doesn't enjoy the sentiment, but definitely cheesy. )

I'll learn to live with it, I guess.

I think you'd get along with Tara and Eugene, though. ( ... ) Which is concerning.
